In light of my new website launching today, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself here and tell you a little more about me. At age 12, I discovered my love for photography. It all began one day while taking photos of my friend in our small town of Hill Spring. There was a small ditch filled with water nearby, and I told her to throw a rock into it. I’m sure at the time she thought I was crazy! But then I captured the splash of the rock as it pierced the smooth surface of the water and was hooked. It was in seeing the beauty of something so simple transforming into a lasting and permanent memory that pulled me in. Right then and there, I knew what my passion was, and couldn’t wait to get behind the camera any chance I could. This passion has grown and changed a lot over the years as I’ve figured out my brand, and who I am as a photographer, but one thing still rings true. It is so important to me to capture these images for my clients. I still love to look at old photos of my parents and grandparents, and I know I’m not the only one.
To give you a little bit of a personal look into my life – I recently married the love of my life, Austin, just a few short months ago. We currently live in Coaldale, Alberta. We would love to have a rescue dog added to our family sometime within the next 6 months or so. I love to travel but am also a huge home body. You’ll often find me cuddled up in a comfy sweatshirt, big blanket, and a glass of wine in hand. More on wine to come… ;) Another favorite subject of mine!
I am a city-turned-country girl through-and-through. I used to be the biggest city girl you’ve ever met, but after meeting Austin, I have traded in my heels for boots, and embrace everything about country living now. We even have horses – Austin’s is a Grullo named Twister, and I have a Palomino named Levi. Like I said, fully embracing the county life now, and loving every minute of it. However – don’t think you won’t see me every now and then with a fancy coffee or tea in hand!
Now for a bit more about my business. My “why” I do what I do every day is my amazing clients. I can’t say enough how much I grow to love them and call them dear friends. There’s something so special about sitting down with a client for the very first time and then watching how our relationship grows as we work together that I love. I am so much more than just a photographer. All my clients become great friends, and it makes our shoots so much more relaxed and fun.
Since experiencing my own wedding just months ago, I see weddings so differently. I want to be there every step of the way because I know personally how crazy things can get. My biggest piece of advice for my brides is DELEGATE. And let me do more than just your photos! I can’t tell you how much I enjoy it.
This business has been such a labor of love. From long nights editing to a lot of soul-searching in building my brand, but I can’t express my gratitude enough for all of you that have helped me get to where I am today. I almost never sit still, and honestly, I love that! Busy days mean lots of perfect moments being captured, edited and delivered. I’m often up at all hours of the night – I mean, sleep is overrated anyway right?! It’s like they say – “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
I’ll leave you with just a few of my favorite things and would LOVE to hear in response what YOUR favorite things are. I am obsessed with Lavender, Cacti, and Wine. In fact, I love wine so much, that I have my own wine made now as a special gift for my clients. (just in case you needed more incentive to get some beautiful photos taken!)
